IRA or Roth IRA?

  • Traditional IRA: may lower your taxes now; you pay tax when you take the money out in retirement.
  • Roth IRA: no tax break now, but the money comes out tax-free in retirement (rules apply). Often a good fit if your taxes are low today.
  • Limit for 2026: $7,500 a year, or $8,600 if you're 50 or older — across all your IRAs combined.

Free money most drivers miss

  • ➕ IRA matches. SoFi and Robinhood add 1% (or more) to what you put in.
